Txana Ikuru Indigenous Medicine Carrier of Huni Kuin People
Txana Ikakuru carries the sacred spiritual knowledge of one of the oldest unbroken lineages of the Huni Kuin people. He is the grandson and apprentice of the great elder Txana Tuin (Romero Sales) a respected pajé and the grandson of Mukaya, a great pajé and healer that lived to be 105. Both were cultural guardians who lived through the beginnings of outside contact, leading to the survival of the Huni Kuin traditional culture.
Rooted in the teachings of his ancestors, Txana Ikakuru was raised deep in the forest, immersed in sacred chants, plant medicine, and rituals from a young age. Through deep listening and devotion, he inherited the spiritual path of his family, preserving the songs and ceremonies of the Huni Kuin people.
Today, Txana Ikakuru lives in the village of Boa Vista along the Jordão River, where he serves his community. His music is not only expressions of joy, but they immerse us in teachings that transform our lives.
Through his prayers, music and presence, Txana Ikakuru shares the vibrant heart of Huni Kuin tradition. Inviting us to come, do our spiritual work and celebrate the great spirit kapuxipa, nature, and the wisdom of the ancestors who walk in harmony with the forest and brought us this sacred technology.
